One of our favorite agency clients, a healthcare creative agency working on pharmaceutical, medical device and wellness brands for UK, European and global clients is looking for a new Strategist / Planner, helping them to reach people with precision and stay connected. The agency crafted its reputation with creative work, but strategy underpins it all at every stage of the lifecycle – from laboratory to LOE and beyond.
You will direct strategy across all incumbent agency accounts, delivering research and insight across markets, competitors and customer types. The role requires excellent knowledge of both creative and communications planning – building the brand as well as communicating it to customers. A deep understanding of customer perspectives and drivers of human behaviour is central to their ethos and they will look for that in you as ‘the voice of the customer’ within the agency.
Reporting to the Head of Strategy, you will also work alongside the leadership team to help develop the agency’s strategic approach on new business proposals, so to excel in this role, you will be highly experienced in storytelling through presentations that communicate clear, evidence-based recommendations to clients.
Key responsibilities will include following the agency’s core principle: to have ideas that are ‘intelligent, engaging and humanly relevant’ and help colleagues have them too, putting the market situation, audience and brand promise at the heart of their strategies and plans.
You will use desk research and other data to uncover insights that fuel inspiring creative briefs; prepare, moderate and report on client workshops; sometimes alongside colleagues, sometimes alone; pro-actively and consistently identify ideas that generate value for both clients and the agency; develop creative briefs, the briefing session and then nurture the ideas developed to ensure they deliver on brief and strategy.
You’ll need to work closely with the client service team in all activities, including ongoing processes to ensure the agency remain fully informed of market, competitor and customer activity that may impact on a client’s business.
You’ll be an experienced and relaxed presenter, with the ability to articulate a clear argument based on the market and customer context, possess a passion for creative innovation and ability to work effectively with creative teams, and have the ability to reduce complex problems into simple solutions.
We’d expect you to have strong experience and understanding of brand planning, a thorough understanding of tactical deployment across channels such as field force, direct marketing, media and experiential. You should also have experience and strong understanding of marketing technology (e.g., CRM, CLM), and excellent research skills, both qualitative and quantitative.
Lastly, you will preferably have 3-5 years’ experience in a planning role at a healthcare creative agency.
