    One thing that hasn’t changed in healthcare communications

    Mike Paling, who has recently retired from full-time employment at TBWA\Paling Walters, but remains the non-executive chairman, has written a really relevant article in InPharm about the rapidly changing face of the pharmaceutical industry. Mike has been in the business for 40 years or so, and it's well worth reading some of the insights that he has written here including the fact that "it has been estimated that over the next two years, around $100 billion in sales will be lost across the industry due to loss of patent expiry and therefore, exclusivity. For example, Lipitor, the world’s biggest drug and soon to face patent expiry, has annual sales of around $11 billion". It's no wonder that Pfizer made the painful decision to close its prized R&D plant in Sandwich - whatever next? He does however reinforce one principle that healthcare communications agencies should never lose sight of ... what is it? click here
